AFROJACK
NICK ven de Wall developed a love for music since he was very young, playing the piano when he was only five years old and spending most of his time while studying listening to musc from every genre. It came as no surprise when he started making music instead of just listening to them.

After finishing school, he decided to pursue his musical career but he was unable to make a living out of it. So he worked part time in bars and did catering to add to his income. The experience gave him the exposure to Rotterdam’s club scene, starting his first night out at Las Palmas when he was only 16 years of age. After these, many club nights, side jobs, DJ gigs and a lot of studio time followed. Afrojack’s program of choice is the Fruity Loops, which he discovered at the age of 16 and still uses till today.

In 2006 he sets off to Crete (Greece) deejaying for five full months straight in every club that would have him, learning the craft and making his first ‘flight hours’. It was in Crete that he landed his first small hit, called F*ck Detroit. When returning home to the Netherlands, he was all fired up and started producing more and more tracks, determined to get his productions released on a label. With a little help from Sidney Samson and Laidback Luke, Digidance decides to give it a shot, and it worked; Afrojack - In Your Face scored #60 in the Dutch Top 100 and #3 in the Dutch dance Top 30. Not bad for the first release of an 18-year-old kid.

In 2007 Nick started performing under the name Afrojack, determined to make it to the top as a DJ and producer. Track after track and remix after remix followed. He even started his own label Wall Recordings. He was rarely seen outside of his studio. When he wasn’t deejaying, he was producing and these efforts slowly paid off. International deejays like Josh Wink, Dave Clarke, Laidback Luke, Fedde Le Grand, Marco V and Benny Rodrigues started giving his tracks the much-needed support.

In 2008 he hit the clubs with Math and Do My Dance and both tracks got picked up by every big name in the industry. Afrojack hooked up with the Partysquad to add vocals to Do My Danceand several weeks later, the Drop Down (Do My Dance) co-op mix was born. This track hit the Dutch top 20 and was crowned Tune of the Week by the biggest Dutch radio stations. Afrojack started making appearances at many important festivals like Mystery Land, Tomorrowland (Belgium), Extrema Outdoor and Sensation.

The world heard more and more of Afrojack in 2009 and it didn’t take long before David Guetta noticed Afrojack’s talent. They decided to meet up in the studio, which resulted in Toyfriend, a collaboration between the two and an Afrojack remix of Guetta’s track Sexy Bitch. Afrojack also played at David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous events.

Befitting his position as the leading figure of the Dutch new wave, his success stretches far beyond his home turf. The year 2010 has seen him become one of the most in-demand DJ/producers of any nationality.

With a peerless reputation as a producer, his signature style is bringing him the kind of remix requests that most dance artists will only ever dream of, for example Lady Gaga’s Alejandro and Madonna’s Revolver.

Gig-wise, he’s rocked the world’s biggest floors including Pacha Ibiza, Miami Ultra Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival in LA.

Afrojack’s rise to fame as a producer has brought him a roll call of A-list champions – from Pete Tong to David Guetta, and Josh Wink to Fedde Le Grand, along the way collaborating with some of the world’s most respected producers and artists like David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Diplo, Kid Cudi, Pitbull and Black Eyed Peas.

His single, Take Over Control ft. Eva Simons became one of the hottest club anthems on the planet, not least in the UK where it’s been championed by Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Pete Tong. The track also hit No. 2mon Beatport and has already reached over one million views on YouTube.

In 2011 Afrojack was rewarded with the respectable Grammy award for the remix of Madonna’s Revolver in collaboration with David Guetta. The year got even better while he took a giant leap in the DJ Mag Top 100 to #7, after entering #19 the year before.

Respected by his colleague DJ’s for his production skills and loved by clubbers for his dancefloor bombs and energetic performances, Afrojack is setting new standards in the industry.

tyDi
BORN and raised on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in Australia, tyDi has a background of classical theory and contemporary styles, as well as a university degree from the prestigious Conservatorium of Music.

“People ask me why I would bother studying when I’m already doing well in my field – but I believe knowledge is power, and it’s important for me to learn everything I can about sound and my passion in life. Music is powerful on so many levels, I want to learn, to know it inside and out,” tyDi says.

And learn he did – for two consecutive years tyDi was voted as Australia’s #1 DJ (Sony ITM DJ Poll), as well as being listed highly in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs of the world in both 2009 and 2010. An amazing achievement for someone so young, but this accolade was far from the end of the story.

The 23 year old attended the 2010 International Dance Music Awards in Miami where he was presented with the award for Best Breakthrough DJ of the world personally by international dance giant Tiesto. He is an internationally touring artist, performing frequently in Australia, Europe, Canada, the US and Asia. Since 2008 tyDi has headlined many of the world’s leading festivals to crowds as big as 40,000 at events such as Sensation, Global Gathering, Godskitchen and the Trance Energy Mainstage in Utrecht, Holland where he played to over 20,000 music lovers.

In late 2009 tyDi launched his own weekly worldwide radio show titled Global Soundsystem, which has become a successful international name in its own right. Broadcasted in over 20 different countries after just one year, the fast growing success of Global Soundsystem led to one of tyDi’s biggest surprises yet, he announced to his fans that superstar guests Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, Sander Van Doorn and Markus Schulz would all be joining him to mix and host the 50th episode.

tyDi’s critically acclaimed debut artist album Look Closer hit the charts running where it went straight to the No. 2 spot on the Australian Dance albums chart, with individual tracks appearing several times in the number one spot on the Beatport downloads chart. In 2009 and 2010 tyDi mixed his own compilations for Ministry of Sound, which were both followed by a 16-date tour for his fans. tyDi’s career as a songwriter and producer took off when his first song Meet me in Kyoto was signed to the world’s #1 Dj Armin Van Buuren’s record label Armada Music at the age of 17. His releases such as You Walk Away, Vanilla, Calling, and Half Light have become international favorites in their genre and are featured on compilations worldwide including several albums from Armin Van Buuren and many of the world’s leading deejays.

In the remix world, tyDi is known for adding his unique twist to the music of the world’s best with a recent remix for BT’s The light in Things impressing so much that it led to the two of them working together on their own original collaborations. tyDi’s versatility is proven by his ability to produce soundtracks for hard hitting government advertising campaigns, video games, and luxury property developments.

It goes without saying that 2011 was a big year for tyDi. The prospective tours, collaborations and musical productions were endless. tyDi has become a brand synonymous with world-class dance music.

BOBBBY BURNS
Bobby started spinning tracks in 1996 and produced his first record in 2002, but it was in the summer of 2007 that everybody in Holland knew his name. His track From Holland became one of Holland’s biggest summer anthems of the year. We can easily say it was just the start of something big.

The success of Bobby’s track From Holland, made Afrojack notice his talent. Bobby and Afrojack decided to get together in the studio, which resulted in the releases of Ghettoblaster on Spinnin' Records. Ghettoblaster became the start of a long-term collaboration between Bobby and Afrojack.

Almost a year later, Bobby Burns is a solid part of Wall Recordings as he represents the more techy and underground sound of Afrojack’s label. For his releases on Wall Recordings, Bobby teamed up with label-owner Afrojack and Sidney Samson, resulting in four huge releases supported by David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Axwell and  Dada Life. In April 2010, Bobby Burns and Afrojack released their first Wall Recordings-collaboration Real High. Bobby and Afrojack continued their good work and a few months later they came up with a new collab called Bungee. The track rocked dancefloors all around the globe and Pete Tong picked the track as an Essential New Tune on his BBC1 radio show. Bobby’s latest work for Wall Recordings includes Countdown, collaboration with Sidney Samson (supported by Tiesto, Diplo and Laidback Luke) and another electrifying co-production with Afrojack; Bridge.

ANGGER DIMAS
Originating from Jakarta, 24-year-old Angger Dimas began his journey into dance music only five years ago, signing with Vicious Recordings in early 2009. His debut release Duck Army was played by the likes of Tocadisco, Joachim Garraud and Laidback Luke, instantly showcasing the Angger Dimas sound. Angger’s collaboration with Vandalism; She Got It brought massive international awareness and his remixes for the likes of Avicii, Afrojack, Richard Vission & Static Revenger, R3hab, Ian Carey, Oliver Twizt, Kaskade, Mind Electric, Tommie Sunshine, Amy Meredith, Tommy Trash, Sandro Silva and Havana Brown quickly followed and saw his star continue to rise.

Fast forward to 2012 and Angger already supported Steve Aoki’s DEADMEAT tour across North America & Canada and was been personally requested to perform alongside Laidback Luke, Wolfgang Gartner, Tiësto, Sandro Silva, R3hab, Diplo, Datsik, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Alex Metric at WMC 2012.  His first release for 2012 in March is called Release Me featuring the vocal talents of Polina (NYC).

Angger’s dj sets have wowed audiences across the world, including multiple tours of Australia & New Zealand in February 2010 supporting Avicii, November 2010, February 2011 supporting Oliver Twizt & Laidback Luke by personal invitation and again in November 2011 with Hardwell & Calvertron.

In September 2011 Angger toured USA playing together with Steve Aoki & Sidney Sampson in Los Vegas and played the epic Nocturnal Wonderland festival alongside the Bassjackers, Dirty South and Avicii and then co-headlined an ADE party in Amsterdam with Hardwell.

Angger supported Tiësto in Bangkok 2010 and they went on to co-produce the project Boys Will Be Boys, a 3-track EP. We Rock infused their unique sounds and reached Top 10 Beatport Electro House chart, gaining huge support internationally and also featured on Tiësto’s Clublife Mixed Album.

Other collaborations followed with Belgian trio Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike and Yves V Madagascar and with Steve Aoki Steve Jobs, which was placed on Steve’s 2012 Wonderland album.

New collaborations are already in place for 2012 with Tiësto, Bassjackers Ria”, Laidback Luke & Polina, backed up with more touring of Australia, Europe and the USA.  Angger’s debut album is set for release mid-2012. This is one guy who is putting Indonesia on the world’s musical stage like it has never been before.

WE LOVE TECHNO presents CARLOS FAURELLE
Supported by Terence C & XU

The electronic dance music scene produces a flood of talent by the minute, by the hour and by the day but few of these individuals shine through with a strong body of music quality like Carlos Fauvelle.

Inspired by counterparts Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin and DJ Vibe and having worked closely with some of them throughout his career, Carlos is one of Portugal’s most exciting and talented music makers. Many a critic has slated Carlos to be the next big thing in house music from that part of the world.

Having moved to the sunny city of Barcelona in Spain two years ago, Carlos was inspired to focus on the music he wants to make and the sound he aims to represent. His discography is rich, with remixes done for folks like Tom Stephan, Chus & Ceballos, Dean Coleman, Hernan Cattaneo and Richie Santana, and studio collaborations laid down with DJ Vibe, Victor Calderone and Peter Bailey  all of whom have been given strong support by legends such as Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Victor Calderone and Dubfire.

Continuing the excellent work with his current music label, Meridua, the creative genius doubles up and launches Inflagrante in 2011, promising a new record label that will present a fresh and eclectic flavor of electronic productions to music lovers globally. Breaking away from the conventional boundaries of the industry, where music is conveniently pigeon-holed into genres, and sounds are often recycled and reproduced, this new label allows Carlos to produce true and quality dance floor tunes, and will be a reflection of his music during his DJ sets – an epic journey of diverse and interesting musical elements.

Having graced consoles and rocked floors at clubs back home in Portugal and around the world, like Zouk in Singapore, Pacha in NYC, Womb in Tokyo, Space in Miami, Rex in Paris and Circus in Montreal, Carlos Fauvrelle drops the right beats and allows his brilliant DJ sets to combine the marathon-like traditions of the New York’s house music scene with a modern touch and taste of Europe’s current tech-house wave.

Marrying old music influences with new ideas, Carlos Fauvrelle http://www.carlosfauvrelle.com is a true master of the dance music craft and a name to look out for at present, and in the near future.

Flow’s SS2012 Collection

Material: Courtesy of The Valiram Group

GET ready for an exciting journey to Latin America and Eastern Europe this season. FLOW Spring Summer 2012 collection makes a smashing transition from the cooler season to a sunny holiday mood, taking inspiration from the socialite’s holidaying jet-setting lifestyle in the 70s in the alluring islands of Saint Tropez, Sao Paulo and Rio.

The Technicolour – Jet-Setter collection is a call for a blissful escapade from city life. Celebrate the spring season with an explosion of prints in boho–chic styles. With bright embroidered flourishes, silk cotton tunic blouses are designed to fit the season’s wardrobe perfectly.

For a bolder style, look out for the heavy beaded embellishment graphic printed jersey blouse. Relax and enjoy the season in sharp colours of loose and unstructured printed tops. Conjuring a bohemian-romantic vibes, the oriental floral prints are cleverly reinterpreted on jersey knit dresses, bringing the
vibrant colours of geranium pink, orangeade and poppy alive.

Recapturing the 70s sentiment is the long jersey maxi dress invented with eclectic hippie mixes of graphic and abstract prints. The trendy diagonal stripe print dress creates an ultra flattering look that certainly embraces the curves. An array of prints in rich hues of aquamarine, coral red and emerald green heavily dominate the collection.

This summer, prepare to unleash your style into the wild as animal prints make a comeback and rev up your ensemble. Classic zebra and leopard prints are amazingly set against toga dresses and kaftans. The all-time favorite exotic snake print further boasts the wild safari feel. Reflecting the summer lightness, the collection utilizes key color palettes of earthy tones and monochromatic in georgette chiffons and lightweight cotton fabrics. Various embellishments are thrown into the mix to bring out touches of sophistication.

Embracing the carefree spirit of summer, linen slouchy trousers and stretchy denims are injected in the collection. Look out for the jersey lycra jumpsuit that brings comfort and style. Loose tunic tops and sun dresses are not to be missed too in this whimsical season.
