FIRED UP FRIDAYS ft FONO vs SIMON LEE & ALVIN
FONO is locally recognized as one of the most sought after progressive trance DJs in Kuala Lumpur, garnering a sizeable and still growing fan base over the past nine years. Emerging into the scene as the Champion of the Heineken’s Found@Thirst DJ competition in 2003, he was first given the international spotlight for performing alongside Paul Oakenfold in KL and Tokyo.
Spotted for his impressive performances, Fono took big leaps into holding a residency in Zouk Kuala Lumpur in 2004. He was regularly seen taking on the main stage alongside renowned trance heavyweights such as Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Armin Van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell and Paul Van Dyk.
Complete with a vast experience of deejaying in major outdoor dance festivals in Malaysia as well as clubs in Taipei, Bangkok, Jakarta and Singapore, Fono has also showcased his musical flair in one of Europe’s most sought after dance festivals, the 2006 Berlin Love Parade.
With his increasing popularity in the local club scene, he was voted the Best Local Club DJ of 2005 by the readers.. Throughout 2009, the immense response to his euphoric trance night, Fired Up Fridays at Zouk KL and his frequent appearance in major dance events such as Revelation, Freedom & the upcoming Massive at Sepang has proved that Fono continues to be the most exciting and anticipated talent to watch out for in 2011.
Their many exclusive cuts and crafty bootlegs have been supported and used as dance floor secret weapons by international and local top DJs.
Their acclaimed podcast, Radio KUL, reaches dance music fans around the world. The show features Simon Lee & Alvin in the mix and guest appearances from many elite international and award-winning EDM artistes. Since its launch in 2007, Radio KUL has won Best Internet Radio Show for two consecutive years at the Choons Awards - Malaysia’s first prestigious dance music awards.
Tune in on every Friday night to Simon Lee & Alvin on Malaysia’s terrestrial radio station, Fly FM Five-O that reaches out to millions of listeners each week. This weekly segment appeals to both the EDM community and the mainstream population, also winning Best Radio Show at the 2011 Choons Awards.
