Save The Dog Punish The Abusers

I was going to start the day on a happy note, only to come face to face with a heart-rending news on FaceBook (FB) – DOG ABUSER! the post on the wall says. Within minutes I was reading link after link, remarks after remarks that came from all over the world “knocking” the abusers left and right at their deranged behaviour.

Not the kind of early morning greeting we need to face for the rest of our lives!

An FB friend of mine messaged me: 26 January at 15:06 … they wanted the poodle to stand on its hind legs and when he didn't the guy abused the dog. It all started with a YouTube video that was posted I believe 2 days ago....I didnt hv the heart to watch the video.

I did, the full 15-minute version and it is horrific http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWRtZM2fbAc. My conclusion is only a demented fool, an abuser, and a person of aggressive nature would do what the guy on the video did to the brown Toy Poodle identified as Sushi.

The abuse, which was recorded and stored in a thumb-drive, got into the hands of someone who found the thumb-drive in Suria KLCC in Malaysia. Report featured here:

This person then uploaded the video clip to her profile page on FB - The Malaysian Insider http://themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/dog-abuse-video-triggers-online-search-for-culprits. What’s very obvious is EVERYONE wants a piece of the abuser and the accomplice recording the entire incident. See http://www.petitiononline.com/SOSSushi/petition.html which carries almost 9000 signatures.

Petition Against Malaysian Dog Abuser toward SUSHI the Brown Toy Poodle and the unknown name Shih Tzu.

We would like to gather support and bring this matter to the authority of Malaysia to take action on the Dog Abuser (ALAN) and the Videographer (DOREEN LOO) who were found abusing their Toy Poodle in a video footage found in a Pen Drive.The video showed 15min footage of the poodle named, Sushi was toasted, punched, throw on wall and beaten.

We, the undersigned, do not believe Doreen Lee(The videographe and the owner of Sushi) and Alan (The Abuser), could ever be trusted to be a loving, caring, and responsible pet owner. they should never be allowed to own any pets of any kind. We want a fair justice to be serve on such abusive pet owner to prevent next Animal Abuse incident to happen.

Animal have their rights. We hope with this CASE, Animal Rights awareness will be raise.

According to the various reports on official news websites the authorities concerned are aware of the incident, which has also attracted the attention of SPCA Singapore, The Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation (MNWF) and the Veterinary Services Department, under the Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Ministry in Putrajaya among others.

Many names linked to the video have been mentioned. But, all these claims have not been verified by the investigating departments. But from the links I read, it appeared the abusers have packed out of their home the minute their abusive video attracted world attention.

When the poodle goes back on all-fours the abuser picked him up and abused him again.

My bigger concern after watching the video is the reality that there are many abusers out there, in different forms, different guises and different temperaments.

This abuser abused a tiny, helpless creature. But what is he really like to his partner, his girlfriend, his fiancée, his wife?

After eight minutes of verbal and physical abuse, the poodle managed to stand on his hind legs for a few minutes, quivering in fear of the abuser.

You can hear the accomplice’s voice carrying a tinge of sadness as the abuser beat the helpless poodle to his fancy. And The Malaysian Insider’s report http://themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/dog-abuse-video-triggers-online-search-for-culprits justified my very thought; that she, while wanting to teach her poodle a trick or two, did not foresee how brutal the “training” can turn out to be from the abuser judging from her “alarmed” comments as reported in The Malaysian Insider.

But, it leaves her with no excuse to participate and when they are caught and brought to the hands of justice, she must be equally punished. I personally find accomplices to be worse criminals because they encourage these acts of violence carried out by someone clearly needing medical attention.

The poodle fell to the floor, limp, and the abuser poked at it and dragged it back to the table.

This is a dog abuser and his degree of insanity. But what about cat haters who boiled their cats or skin them alive? What do we think of rapists and child abusers?

The laws on these abusers and their acts of crime need to be changed and this call is clearly highlighted by The Star’s reporter Bavani M, who is also a passionate animal lover, in her report Animal Cruelty Laws Need More Bite (Mon, April 19, 2010) http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2010/4/19/central/6079740&sec=central

Quote: … anyone guilty of an offence of cruelty to animals shall be liable to a fine of RM200 or imprisonment for a term of six months or both. The sentence is too light and those found guilty hardly get the maximum sentence. Bavani M (Star reporter).

Is the current fine enough to teach abusers a much-needed lesson?

It is time for change.
